Apps:

Before you come to NY please check this site below.

www.nycgo.com

You can find apps that you can't even imagine they would exist. From the New York subway to an app who helps you calculate the tipping... You can find it all.

My favorites:

- NYC Sample Sales
This app shows you all the sample sales who are going on now or the ones who will be hold in the near future. I just love this app. I already went to a few sample sales due to this app and I did some great bargains.

- NYC Tip
An easy app who works as an calculator who helps you to determine the tip that you want or have to give. You just enter the total amount and then you can choose which tip % you want to calculate. You can also divide the total amount by the number of people.

- HopStop
The only public transit app who is very easy in use. It gives u detailed subway, bus, train, taxi, walking and biking directions along with official transit maps, a nearby station finder and schedules.

- Exit Strategy NYC
A navigation tool with plans of the streets, metro, the entrance and exit of metro stations. You need no internet connection to use this app. So it is also available underground.

For sale in the iPhone AppStore for 3,42 euros.  Also available for Blackberry & Android.

- Coovents
An overview of all bars with happy hour and drinks in promotion.

For free available in the iPhone AppStore.

- MenuPages
The best restaurants in NYC, ranked by district and kitchen.

For free available for Iphone and Android at NY Magazine Apps.

- The Scoop
The favourites events, food and shopping addresses from the New York Times editorial office.

For free available in the iPhone AppStore.

Magazines:

- Nowadays every paper magazine has a online version. New York Magazine (nymag.com) has a section called Visitor's Guide where you can find the best sandwiches, summerfestivals, spots and places you should shoot (with your camera of course) and so on.
Also mapped routes for each traveller, such as romanticist, fashionistas, first time visitors,...) You can also find a hotel here.

- The weeklies Time Out (timeout.com/newyork) and The Village Voice (free magazine- villagevoice.com) give an overview of the impressive cultural offer, just as the Friday edition of the New York Times, who offers with NYC Guide who-what-where-lists, hotel and restaurant reviews.

Books:

Beschikbaar bij o.a. Standaarboekhandel. Richtprijs: 17,99 Euro
